Was Vince Vaughn In 'Psycho' in the 90's Any Good?
[2007-02-28 00:47:22]

I'd like to see it, but I heard a few bad things about his acting as Norman Bates ...

:) Thanks!

Vince was in the remake, he was ok in it, but I have to say, see the original first. Fantastic film.

(The original) was the first film that you had to see from the creation, before that you could just walk into the cinema at any time (half

Movie Review: The Dilemma's Dilemma – Is It A Farce Or A Serious ...

Keep in mind that Kevin James played Larry Valentine in the horrendous I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry. In The Dilemma, Vince Vaughn plays Ronnie Valentine to Kevin James character of Nick Brannen and what could have been a smart film about trust, honesty and human relations devolves into some kind of misguided mix of comedy and emotion. Much like Seth Rogen taking The Green Hornet to a territory where it does not connected with, the two slobs that are Brannen and Valentine just can’t be taken seriously in this dark and sometimes ludicrous indulgence. The usually reliable Ron Howard gave us The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, Frost/Nixon and even Mel Gibson’s Ransom. All those stories had production values that made them believable. But the cringe factor rises up too many times in this movie which could have hit it out of the park with a better script and a more believable make advances.

The caring Vince Vaughn in 1997’s The Locusts was needed here, but that actor took a wrong turn in 1998’s failed assault to remake the Alfred Hitchcock classic, Psycho. Remember Vaughn’s terrible job of mimicking Anthony Perkins at the conclusion of director Gus Van Sant’s folly disguised as another look at father Robert Bloch’s masterpiece, Psycho?

When Movie Remakes Go Wrong

Hollywood is lazy. If one was to estimate at the volume of motion pictures released any given year that are sequels, trilogies, based off a post that everyone lies about having read or remakes, the percentage would land somewhere around 99.9% (based off of many scientific findings). You can’t turn around without seeing “based off the New York Times Bestseller,” or “the sequel to the hit,” or “based off that time you swore your Grandma Jezebel was cheating at Battleship but had little to no hard evidence, just a strong hunch,” in every movie trailer. But amongst the trash trove of the creatively-impaired known as the Hollywood Elite, none falls further from “art” than the remake.

Remakes are lower than the sequel or triquel or quiquel (word?) or literature fitting for one main reason: they require no creativity. A straight remake of a film simply asks that you, as a director/producer/ruiner of history watch a movie, then have hoards of money. This is no Top 5 list, my friends, simply a cry for help through effective examples. Here are some times when movie remakes went wrong.

Is the remake of psycho (1998) a good movie? With Vince Vaughn and Julianne Moore?

WAS IT SCARY?

It is horrible, a crime...I can't credence in someone even had the balls to remake one of Hitchcock's best films.
