Winter alpine sports are a ruin; the rush of descending down a hill or catching some alarming air can be pretty hard to flog. Skiing and snowboarding are both great excersize and a great source of excitement, but there are plenty of risk factors to go along with the pleasure. Among them is the cold, wind, rain or snow conditions, twigs, and even sunlight itself; and all of these are hazards that can be defeated by a good pair of goggles.
Anatomy of Skiing GogglesSkiing goggles usually seethe down to nothing more than an elastic headband with a color-tinted plastic shield that covers one’s eyes. There’s frequently a layer of foam which insulates the goggles and makes them comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. Many snow sports helmets are designed to hold goggles firmly in place. The thick plastic covering the eyes is typically scratch and fog resistant, but it isn’t invincible.
How Goggles Help You SeeTo start with, skiing in the woods is a minefield; twigs infested with, as can rocks and even animals. A good pair of ski goggles will ensure that an errant subdivide doesn’t poke one’s eye out. A pebble thrown up by the skiier in front of you will simply leap off harmlessly. If you fall, goggles may protect you from impact – though they are far from bullet proof. Repeated upbraiding of the goggles will eventually wear them down.
...Sixteen years ago, that was Tony’s reality. He spent his days trying to get the rout education possible in Uganda, a country located in central Africa, and spent his nights hiding from the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), a rebel army led by Joseph Kony. According to Tony’s documentary, Kony’s army would invade villages in Uganda at night and kidnap children to fight in their battles. Because of Invisible Children, a non-profit organization existing to help end the use of child soldiers in central Africa since 2003, Tony’s fear and night commuting came to an end.
In the last decade, businesses, organizations and campaigns like Invisible Children have gained popularity. Instead of just making a charitable contribution, people can still support causes while getting something stylish in return. Offering products from necklaces to wine, companies such as Falling Whistles, TOMS, Invisible Children and ONEHOPE exist to offer products to people in exchange for funds to fringe benefits others worldwide.
