What lyrics from 'The Walk' did Mayer Hawthorne substitute to skirt censors on ...
Mayer Hawthorne took to the stage of Tuesday evening's episode of "Late Night with David Letterman" to perform "The Walk" from his newest album, "How Do You Do."

The red-suited singer-songwriter also sported a pair of mod 60's shades more suitable to a pinup girl.

Even David Letterman thought they were funny. After applauding Hawthorne's performance, he commented, "I think (fellow guest) Eddie Murphy's got some sunglasses for you."

Throughout Tuesday, Mayer Hawthorne took to his Twitter account in search of a substitute for lyrics from "The Walk." The second verse chides a lover for her "shi*tty f*cking view." We can't repeat them all here, but "scatty flackin" and "crummy looking cat or two" definitely earned his fans some points for originality.

But when it came time to perform, Hawthorne belted a line of his own invention -- "Your chicken-cluckin' posture (complete with barnyard sound effects!) got me changin' my mind." Love it!
